Introducing Archie Wright — ILU Athlete Program
From London to Auckland: Building a life through Fitness.
At 32 years old, Archie Wright has built his life around one simple purpose — helping people realise they are capable of more than they think.
Originally from London and now based in Auckland, Archie’s journey into fitness wasn’t a straight path. Like many athletes, sport was always at the centre of his world. From a young age, he dreamed of becoming a professional sportsman, but when that path didn’t unfold as planned, he found himself searching for a career that gave him the same passion and fulfillment.
For six years, Archie worked as a plumber — a job that taught him discipline and resilience, but ultimately left him feeling disconnected from what truly motivated him.
"I made a promise to myself that I would change my career and do something I love. Not for the money, but for the love of the game."
That decision became the turning point.
For Archie, fitness has always been about more than physical performance. The real reward comes from seeing the impact it has on others.
"When you see the impact you can have on people’s lives, it becomes addictive."
Now coaching at Truehuscle, Archie’s motivation comes from helping people build confidence, develop belief in themselves, and push beyond the limits they once thought they had.
His definition of success reflects that mindset:
"Success to me is how many lives I can positively impact."

Embracing The Challenge.
Taking the leap into a new career was one of the biggest challenges Archie has faced — stepping away from the security of what he knew and backing himself without guarantees. That same mentality carries through into how he approaches setbacks.
Through sport and fitness, Archie has learned one lesson that applies far beyond training:
"Everyone is capable of far more than they think."
It’s a belief that continues to shape the way he trains, coaches, and approaches life.
Achievements Beyond The Finish Line
While Archie has achieved plenty personally, it’s the people he has helped along the way that he considers his biggest achievement.
His journey includes completing a 100km ultramarathon while raising money for men's mental health, representing his country in AFL, earning a podium finish at Hyrox Bangkok, and most recently competing at the HYROX Sydney.
Competing in Sydney gave Archie the opportunity to race against some of the sport's best, pushing him to new limits and teaching him more about himself and how far he's willing to go. Beyond the competition, he was there supporting the Truehuscle team, something he says was just as rewarding as racing itself. Having the Truehuscle crew cheering him on throughout the event helped him dig deep when the race became challenging and made the experience one he'll never forget.
But when asked what he’s most proud of, the answer is simple:
"Helping as many people as possible believe in themselves."
Life Beyond Fitness
When he's not coaching or training, Archie enjoys slowing things down. Archie is a sports fanatic who'll watch just about anything with a ball. He also loves getting out into nature for hikes, spending quality time with friends, and believes strongly in maintaining balance. Whether it's pushing himself in the gym or unwinding with a few beers and a laugh with his mates on the weekend, Archie believes life is about enjoying both the hard work and the moments in between.
Style Meets Performance
Off the track, Archie brings the same confidence and individuality to his style. His connection with I Love Ugly comes down to a shared appreciation for looking good while putting in the work.
"The clothing, of course. Who doesn’t want to look the best when clocking K's?"
Archie isn’t slowing down.
After the high of a major event, it's easy to experience a bit of a post-event lull, but Archie already has his sights set on what's next. With The Yard X Grid and the Deadly Dozen World Championships on the horizon, he continues to chase new challenges while expanding his impact beyond competition.
Outside of fitness, he's currently learning Thai and has bigger ambitions for the future — including owning multiple gyms and helping thousands of people on their fitness journeys.
Looking ahead five years, Archie’s vision is clear:
"To help thousands of people of all levels with their fitness journeys."
And when it comes to the legacy he wants to leave behind?
"A huge one. I want people to be able to say: Archie helped me change my life."
For Archie Wright, fitness has never just been about the numbers, the medals, or the milestones. It’s about people — and creating a lasting impact, one person at a time.
