ILU Style Guide: Sophia Doak

ILU Style Guide: Sophia Doak

Meet Sophia Doak, a Kiwi photographer living in Sydney. She steps in front of the lens to style her top picks from the ILU womenswear collection this month. Discover her wardrobe must-haves, and favourite spots amongst Sydney’s vibrant food and coffee scene.

Describe your style in 3 words
I asked my best friend how she would describe my style in three words and she said I dress like a 'blue sky day' which I think is so nice.
What are three must have pieces in a capsule wardrobe?
I cannot speak for all capsule wardrobes but for my own, I would say a pair of really great jeans – I think a mid wash denim is perfect, a white tee and a versatile sweater either in black or a mid-dark grey.

What was the last song you listened to on Spotify?

Probably 'The Adults Are Talking' by The Strokes, never get sick of this one.

Colour or neutrals?

Is neutrals with a pop of colour an option? I've been super into neutral outfits with a coloured sock recently.

Tell us the best places to eat, sleep, visit in Sydney

Oooooh goodness, this question! One of the best (and maybe the worst?) parts of city living is the never ending options of timeless and new spots to indulge in a drink, a bite or both. At the moment, for coffee I am loving Alimentari which is my local or Maido in Surry Hills. For dinner some current stand outs are Derrel's, Bar Louise, Pellegrino 2000 (always), Le Foote and Cairo Takeaways. P&V, Bar Copains, The Old Fitz and Cafe Fredas are all regular haunts for a tipple. Honestly at the moment I am the most into all the grab and go lunch options like Domo 39 and Parami, Tetas Deli, and an abundance of places doing sandwiches.
Call me a tourist but in terms of visiting, I will never get sick of the Opera House and Opera Bar, I just think it's so cool, especially at golden hour. Sydney has some great art gallries, go and check out White Rabbit in Chippendale or MCA. Winter is quickly approaching but on a good day, a walk or picnic in Centennial Park or the Bondi coastal walk is a treat. I also love a Saturday trip to the markets, Carriageworks is my favourite.
