Fern Ngatai is a tā moko artist and visual artist from Tāmaki Makaurau, raised on the whenua of Te Kawerau ā Maki. Her work is rooted in connection, culture, movement, and storytelling, often created on harakeke paper to honour memory, material, and identity.

Each piece invites you to slow down and feel the story through form and line.
Fern has been a long time supporter and customer of I Love Ugly. This collaboration creates space for her voice, story and artistry. All proceeds from this artwork go directly to the artist.

Introducing Koiwi, a work that reflects on the bones within us and the bones that have come before us. This piece serves as a constant reminder to respect and appreciate where we stand as humans—those who have been and those who will continue to go. It speaks to continuity, whakapapa, and the enduring presence that remains long after life has moved on. Our bones are the last and only things to rest, encouraging us to take life day by day and to live authentically as ourselves, leaving no dust behind.
