Fern Ngatai is a tā moko artist and visual artist from Tāmaki Makaurau, raised on the whenua of Te Kawerau ā Maki. Her work is rooted in connection, culture, movement, and storytelling, often created on harakeke paper to honour memory, material, and identity. Each piece invites you to slow down and feel the story through form and line.
Fern has been a long time supporter and customer of I Love Ugly. This collaboration creates space for her voice, story and artistry. All proceeds from this artwork go directly to the artist.

Introducing Ngā Hua, a work that speaks to the fruits of our labour. When a seed is planted, watered, and nourished, it yields abundance in time. This piece reflects a kiwaha (proverb) that has guided the artist through years of learning, growth, and cultivation across many aspects of life. It is a nod to planting seeds, trusting the process, and honouring what comes from patience and care.
